Abstract

BRIS shares are shares listed on the IDX which have undergone a merger with the aim of gaining profit. Researchers saw fluctuations in BRIS shares after the merger was carried out. This study aims to determine the differences in BRIS stock returns, BRIS stock prices and BRIS stock trading volume before and after the merger.

Merger is important information for shareholders. In the concept of corporate finance, there are many motives and reasons why companies decide to pursue a merger strategy. However, there is only one big reason why the bidding company decides to implement these strategies, which is to generate more profit (profit) and to increase the welfare of the shareholders, both through dividends being distributed and through increasing share prices as well as stock returns.

This research is a quantitative research using comparative or comparative analysis. The type of data used is secondary data in the form of BRIS stock return data, BRIS stock prices and BRIS stock trading volume obtained from the official website www.yahoofinance.com from November 2019 to June 2022. The analysis technique used is descriptive statistical test, normality test and statistical techniques in comparative analysis using paired sample t-test.

The results of this study indicate that there are differences between BRIS stock returns, BRIS stock prices and BRIS stock trading volume before and after the merger.
