Focus and Scope
El-Sirry: Journal of Islamic and Social Law is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published by the Postgraduate Islamic Law Study Program of UIN Syahada

It focuses on the issue of study Contemporary Islamic Law practices in Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and Global Perspective by multidisciplinary approach. This Journal specializes in studying the theory and practice of various topics are Islamic family law, Islamic criminal law, Islamic constitutional law, Islamic private law, sharia economic law, human rights law, customary law, and environmental law, in the framework of Indonesian legal studies and global context. This journal warmly welcomes contributions from scholars with related disciplines. Novelty and recency of issues, however, are the priority in publishing.

Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial is managed by the Postgraduate Islamic Family Law Study Program of UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, this journal contains studies on Islamic Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and their comparison with the social field, published twice a year in June and December.

The article is the author's original scientific work and has never been published or is in the process of being published by other media;

The article emphasizes the study of Islamic Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and their comparison with the social field in Islamic countries in general and in Indonesia in particular by emphasizing Islamic Law theories and their practices in the Islamic world (See Focus and Scope);

The article must be in accordance with the applicable journal style and template;

The author must submit an article that examines current themes within the scope of Islamic Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and their comparison with the social field, demonstrating analytical sharpness, up-to-date references, and does not contain plagiarism. Authors must fill out a form for the authenticity of the article;

The systematics of the article include:

Title;
Author's name (without academic title), affiliation, and email;
Abstract is written in two languages, namely Indonesian and English. Abstract maximum 300 words;

Keywords, between 3-7 words;

Introduction;

Subtitle (according to the needs of analysis and discussion);

Conclusion;

Bibliography.

Articles can be written in Indonesian, English, and Arabic;

Articles submitted to Samarah are written in A4 Paper format (Width: 18, Height: 25), Margin (Top: 4 cm, Left: 4 cm, Bottom: 3 cm, Right: 3 cm), Times New Roman 12 pt, 1.5 spacing with a length of 13-25 pages;

Articles submitted to El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial are written using the Mendeley/EndNote/Zotero application using the Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition (full-note) citation style arranged alphabetically with the provisions in force in the author guidelines. Transliteration from Arabic uses the Library of Congress model combined with the model of the Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion and the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 158 of 1987.

Articles submitted via online submission must contain article files and academic biodata;

Articles are submitted using Arabic-Indonesian transliteration according to the Joint Decree of the 3 Ministers

Guidelines for Journal Publication Ethics
The publication of articles in El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial is managed by the Postgraduate Islamic Family Law Study Program of UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, this journal contains studies on Islamic Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and their comparison with the social field, published twice a year in June and December that have gone through a peer-reviewed process is an important foundation in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Articles that have gone through a peer-reviewed process support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher and the society.

El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial, we take our oversight of all stages of publishing seriously and we recognize our ethical and other responsibilities. We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.

Publication Decisions
The editor of El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. Editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair Play
An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

REVIEWER'S DUTIES
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

Promptness
Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

DUTIES OF AUTHORS
Reporting Standards
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper.

 

Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process
El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial uses a double-blind review policy, the author and the initial article are not displayed until the article is accepted for further review and publication. Each submitted article will be evaluated based on the following considerations:

The scientific work is an original work
Suitability between methodology and research topic
Has a good analysis
Ability to communicate with readers
Based on reviewer recommendations
The normal time for screening and evaluating manuscripts is four to six months from the date of receipt
Articles submitted to El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial can use Indonesian, English, or Arabic. However, the abstract must be in Indonesian and English.
The editor of El-Sirry: Jurnal Hukum Islam dan Sosial has full rights to decide whether the article is accepted or rejected

Focus
El-Sirry: Journal of Islamic and Social Law emphasizes the study of Islamic law in Islamic countries in general and in Indonesia in particular by emphasizing the theories of Islamic family law and Islamic law and its practices in the Islamic world that are currently developing through the publication of articles and book reviews.

Scope
This journal specializes in studying Islamic and Social law in Islamic countries and intends to express original research and current issues. The journal welcomes contributions from academics from related fields by considering the following general topics; Law

It focuses on the issue of study Contemporary Islamic Law practices in Indonesia, Southeast Asia, and Global Perspective by multidisciplinary approach. Plagiarism Policy

El-Sirry: Journal of Islamic and Social Law by Pascasarjana UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan recognizes that plagiarism is not acceptable for all authors and therefore establishes the following policy stating specific actions (penalties) when plagiarism is identified by anti-plagiarism software detection using Turnitin software (https://www.turnitin.com) in an article that is submitted for publication.

“Plagiarism is copying another person’s text or ideas and passing the copied material as your own work. You must both delineate (i.e., separate and identify) the copied text from your text and give credit to (i.e., cite the source) the source of the copied text to avoid accusations of plagiarism. Plagiarism is considered fraud and has potentially harsh consequences including loss of a job, loss of reputation, and the assignation of reduced or failing grade in a course."

This definition of plagiarism applies to copied texts and ideas:

  1. Regardless of the source of the copied text or idea.
  2. Regardless of whether the author(s) of the text or idea which you have copied actually copied that text or idea from another source.
  3. Regardless of whether or not the authorship of the text or idea which you copy is known
  4. Regardless of the nature of your text (journal paper/article, web page, book chapter, paper submitted for a college course, etc) into which you copy the text or idea
  5. Regardless of whether or not the author of the source of the copied material gives permission for the material to be copied; and
  6. Regardless of whether you are or are not the author of the source of the copied text or idea (self-plagiarism).

When plagiarism is identified by the Plagiarism Checker (using Turnitin software),  the Editorial Board is responsible for the review of this paper and will agree on measures according to the extent of plagiarism detected in the article in agreement with the following guidelines:

1.  Minor Plagiarism: A small sentence or short paragraph of another manuscript is plagiarized without any significant data or ideas taken from the other papers or publications.

Punishment: A warning is given to the authors and a request to change the manuscript and properly cite the original sources.

 

2.  Intermediate Plagiarism: A significant data, paragraph, or sentence of an article is plagiarized without proper citation to the original source.

Punishment: The submitted article is automatically rejected.

3.  Severe Plagiarism: A large portion of an article is plagiarized that involves many aspects such as reproducing original results (data, formulation, equation, law, statement, etc.), ideas, and methods presented in other publications.
Punishment: The paper is automatically rejected and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles to the journal.

The similarity level tolerated for papers submitted to the journal of Studi Multidisipliner must have a similarity level of less than 20%.
