PROFJES: PROFETIK JURNAL EKONOMI SYARIAH (PROPHETIC JOURNAL OF SHARIA ECONOMICS) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business, Universitas Islam Negeri Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, Indonesia.
FOCUS
PROFJES focuses on the development of Islamic economics and contemporary economic issues from Islamic perspectives. The journal provides a scholarly platform for the publication of original research that contributes to the advancement of Islamic economic theory, policy, and practice at local, national, and international levels.
SCOPE
PROFJES specializes in Islamic economics and related fields and aims to disseminate original research, theoretical studies, empirical findings, and current issues in Islamic economics. The journal welcomes contributions from researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers, and scholars from related disciplines.

The primary audience of PROFJES includes academics, researchers, students, practitioners, policymakers, and other stakeholders interested in Islamic economics and related fields.
The primary criterion for publication is the significance and originality of the contribution to the development of knowledge and practice in Islamic economics. Submitted manuscripts are evaluated based on the quality and originality of the research, theoretical and empirical contribution, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal's focus and scope, clarity of presentation, and compliance with academic and publication ethics.
All submitted manuscripts undergo an independent peer-review process. The review process is intended to provide constructive, objective, and timely evaluations to ensure the quality and academic integrity of articles published in PROFJES.

GENERAL INFORMATION
PROFJES: Profetik Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah (Prophetic Journal of Sharia Economics) applies a rigorous and transparent peer-review process to ensure the quality, originality, relevance, and academic integrity of all published manuscripts.
All manuscripts submitted to PROFJES are initially evaluated by the editorial team to determine their relevance to the journal's focus and scope, compliance with the submission guidelines, academic quality, and suitability for peer review. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements or are outside the journal's scope may be rejected at the initial editorial screening stage.
CRITERIA FOR PUBLICATION
To be considered for publication in PROFJES, a manuscript should meet the following general criteria:
- The manuscript presents original and significant research that contributes to the development of Islamic economics and related fields.
- The research question, objectives, and arguments are clearly formulated.
- The manuscript demonstrates methodological rigor and provides sufficient evidence to support its findings and conclusions.
- The manuscript demonstrates originality and provides a clear contribution to the existing literature.
- The topic is relevant to the focus and scope of PROFJES.
- The manuscript is clearly written, logically structured, and presented according to the journal's author guidelines.
- The manuscript complies with academic integrity and publication ethics standards.
- Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies are welcomed when they make a meaningful contribution to Islamic economics or related fields.
The overall quality of a manuscript is assessed based on the significance and originality of its contribution, the rigor of its methodology and analysis, the relevance of its findings, and the quality of its presentation. Publication decisions are based on the academic merit of the manuscript and the recommendations of independent peer reviewers.
THE REVIEW PROCESS
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening. The editorial team evaluates each manuscript for its relevance to the journal's focus and scope, originality, methodological soundness, adherence to the author guidelines, and compliance with publication ethics.
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent peer reviewers who have relevant expertise in the subject area. PROFJES applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other.
The reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on several criteria, including:
- Originality and novelty of the research;
- Relevance and significance of the research problem;
- Theoretical foundation and literature review;
- Research methodology and analytical rigor;
- Quality and validity of data and evidence;
- Clarity and consistency of findings and discussion;
- Contribution to Islamic economics and related fields;
- Quality of conclusions and implications; and
- Compliance with academic and publication ethics.
Based on the reviewers' reports and recommendations, the editor makes the final editorial decision. Possible decisions include:
- Accept;
- Accept with minor revisions;
- Revise and resubmit (major revisions); or
- Reject.
The final decision remains the responsibility of the editor and is based on the quality of the manuscript, the reviewers' recommendations, and the journal's editorial standards.
PEER REVIEWER SELECTION
Peer reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise, research experience, publication record, subject-matter competence, and familiarity with the topic of the submitted manuscript.
PROFJES seeks reviewers who are able to provide objective, constructive, and independent evaluations. Reviewers are expected to disclose any potential conflict of interest before accepting an assignment. Reviewers who have a conflict of interest with the authors, institutions, or research should decline the review invitation.
The journal maintains a database of qualified reviewers and may periodically invite new reviewers with relevant expertise to ensure appropriate and balanced peer-review coverage.
WRITING THE REVIEW
The primary purpose of peer review is to assist the editor in making an informed publication decision and to help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.
Reviewers are expected to provide objective, professional, and constructive comments. Reviews should clearly identify the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript and provide specific recommendations for improvement.
When recommending rejection, reviewers should provide a clear academic justification for their recommendation. Reviewers should focus their evaluation on the manuscript's academic quality, originality, methodology, findings, contribution, and relevance to the journal.
Reviewers should not make personal or offensive comments about the authors. All comments should be professional, evidence-based, and relevant to the manuscript.
ANONYMITY
PROFJES applies a double-blind peer-review process. The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process to promote impartiality and reduce potential bias.
Authors are not informed of the identities of reviewers, and reviewers are not informed of the identities of authors. Reviewers are expected to maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript and the review process.
PEER-REVIEW PUBLICATION POLICY
All research articles submitted to PROFJES that pass the initial editorial screening are subject to peer review. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers with appropriate expertise in the subject area.
The editor may request additional reviews when the reviewers' recommendations are substantially different or when further expert assessment is required.
ETHICS AND CONFIDENTIALITY
PROFJES is committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and research integrity. Editors and reviewers may seek clarification or additional information regarding ethical issues, research methodology, data availability, authorship, conflicts of interest, plagiarism, or other matters related to the integrity of a submitted manuscript.
All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must not disclose, share, or use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for personal or professional purposes.
If ethical or legal concerns arise during the editorial or peer-review process, the editor may request additional information from the authors, reviewers, or relevant institutions and may take appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
FINAL EDITORIAL DECISION
The final decision regarding the publication of a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the designated editor. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological rigor, compliance with the journal's policies, and the recommendations of peer reviewers.
The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet its academic, ethical, or editorial standards.
event_note Publication Frequency
PROFJES: Profetik Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah is published twice a year, in June and December. The journal uses a conventional issue-based publication system, in which articles that have completed the peer-review, revision, and editorial processes are published collectively as part of the corresponding issue. Each volume consists of two issues published annually.

PROFJES: Profetik Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah provides immediate and unrestricted open access to all published articles. The journal is committed to ensuring that its research articles are freely available to the public to support the dissemination, exchange, and development of knowledge in the field of Islamic and Sharia economics. Readers may access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of published articles without subscription or registration requirements, subject to the applicable copyright and licensing terms.
