Abstract

The problem found at SDN 174 Sibanggor Tonga, especially in grade IV, is the low learning outcomes of Civic subject, which is evidenced by the lack of achievement of Minimum Completeness Criterion as a whole. This is due to the lack of student attention when the teacher explains the material and the learning process that is still teacher-centered. Therefore, this study aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade IV students by applying the SQ3R learning model in PPKn subjects at SDN 174 Sibanggor Tonga, Puncak Sorik Marapi District, Mandailing Natal Regency. This research is a Class Action Research (CAR) using the Kurt Lewin model. This Class Action Research has several stages, namely Planning, Acting, Observation, and Reflecting. This research consists of two cycles, namely Cycle I of meetings 1 and 2 and cycle II of meetings 1. The data collection instruments are in the form of test questions and observation sheets. The subject of this study is grade IV students with a total of 14 students. Before taking action, the researcher conducts pre-cycle stages to find out the initial condition. The percentage of completion in the pre-cycle was 35.72% or only 5 students who completed it. While the overall average score is 55. In the first cycle of meeting 1, the percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes was 50%, meaning that only 7 students completed and the overall average score was 65.71. In Cycle I of meeting 2, the percentage of completeness of learning outcomes was 64.28% with 9 students who completed it. Meanwhile, the overall average score was 76.42. Then in the second cycle of meeting 1, the percentage of completeness of learning outcomes was 85.71% with 12 students who completed. Meanwhile, the overall average score was 81.42. The percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes and the overall average score that increases in each cycle shows that the SQ3R learning model can improve student learning outcomes in PPKn subjects.
