Abstract


The development of modern educational paradigms demands that teachers adapt instruction to the diverse characteristics, abilities, and needs of students. Adaptive learning design is one of the most relevant approaches to achieving differentiated instruction in secondary schools, particularly in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study aims to analyze the implementation of adaptive learning design as a differentiation strategy that aligns with Islamic values and the Merdeka Belajar policy. This research uses a qualitative method with a literature review approach, drawing from recent studies on adaptive design, differentiation, and Islamic education. The results show that adaptive learning design emphasizes teachers’ flexibility in adjusting strategies, content, and assessment according to students’ potential. From an Islamic perspective, this reflects the principles of ta’dib (education with adab), justice, and hikmah (wisdom) in teaching. Implementing adaptive design in Islamic education can enhance students’ engagement, motivation, and spiritual understanding. This article also explores the implications of adaptive learning within the Merdeka Belajar vision and provides recommendations for future research.
