Abstract

This study examines prophetic communication ethics in QS. “Abasa (80): 1-10 as a normative foundation for developing a humanistic and inclusive model of Islamic communication. The research is motivated by the urgency of constructing da‘wah communication patterns that are free from social bias, responsive to audience needs, and oriented toward divine values. Employing a qualitative approach based on library research, this study analyzes classical and contemporary Qur’anic exegesis as well as scholarly works on Islamic communication ethics. The findings reveal that QS. ‘Abasa (80): 1–10 articulates four core principles of prophetic communication ethics: audience equality, communicative empathy, prioritization of spiritual readiness, and da‘wah integrity. These principles carry significant implications for da‘wah practices, particularly in fostering communicative relationships that are just, sensitive, and oriented toward seekers of truth. Furthermore, the study demonstrates that the moral message of QS. ‘Abasa remains highly relevant in modern communication contexts, including digital communication practices that are often susceptible to social hierarchies, image construction, and popular bias. This study concludes that QS. ‘Abasa can serve as a comprehensive reference for constructing an adaptive and prophetically grounded model of Islamic communication ethics, offering strategic guidance for the development of da‘wah in the contemporary era.
