The focus of Takamul el-Ulum is to provide scientific article of islamic studies that developed in attendance through the article publications and research reports 

SCOPE

Takamul el-Ulum journal welcome papers from academicians on theories, philosophy, conceptual paradigms, academic research, as well as religion practices. In particular, papers which consider the following general topics are invited.

Peer Review Process

Some policies in the review of Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam.
  1. The reviewers will review the submitted article that follows the guidelines and template of the journal provided
  2. The review process in this journal employs a double-blind peer-review, which means that both the reviewer's and author's identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa.
  3. In the review process, the article will be reviewed by at least two reviewers to ensure its quality of the article.
  4. In the review process, the reviewers ensure the quality of the articles of their title, abstract, discussion and conclusion. Besides, the reviewers also address the novelty and its contribution to the scientific discussion and verify the plagiarism and ethics of publication.
  5. The reviewer also provides feedback on whether the article is accepted, rejected or needs minor or major revision

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

 

Publication Ethics

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer reviewer, the publisher, and the society.

Author Guidline

GUIDELINE WRITING FOR

Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam  

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR WRITING MANUSCRIPT

 

  1. The manuscript has never been published or is not in the process of submission for publication to other media and does not contain elements of plagiarism with a written statement from the author.
  2. The manuscript is written in Indonesian or English and Arabic with 1.0 line spacing density, Cambria 11 font, A4 paper size, 4 cm top margin, 3 cm bottom, 4 cm left, and 3 cm right, and Calibri Light (for words Arabic)
  3. The length of the script is 3500-7000 words (about until 14-20 pages), including pictures, graph/table (if any), and the accompanying bibliography.
  4. The manuscript must be accompanied by an abstract (150-200 words) in English, Indonesian, and keywords (3-5 words).
  5. The manuscript was sent via the Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam online submission with the address https://jurnal.uinsyahada.ac.id/index.php/takamul/user/register
  6. All manuscripts that enter the editorial will go through a blind review process by the peer reviewer after the editorial review. The published manuscript will be edited again by the editor without changing the substance of the content.

 

STRUCTURE OF SCIENTIFIC DATE

 

1. Title

The title should be concise, effective and informative, with 12 words, including conjunctions. Font Cambria 13 font bolded, with a spacing of 1.0 spaces.

 

2. Author's Identity

Articles accompanied by an author's identity include the author's name without an academic degree (Font Cambria 12 bolded), author’s institutional affiliation, agency address, and e-mail (Cambria 11, no bolded 1.5 spaces). Student institutional affiliation follows the place where the person concerned is studying. The author's name and the order of the authors (if more than one author) must be agreed upon by all authors, usually based on the amount of contribution and participation in conducting research and report writing, and all authors are responsible for the content of the article.

 

3. Abstract

The abstract is concise and factual, covering research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions. Abstract written in English, Arabic and Indonesian, abstract lengths range from 150 - 200 words in one paragraph, Cambria 9 font 1.0 spaces.

 

4. Keywords

Keywords consist of 3-5 words and / or groups of words. Words typed in italics (italic), between keywords separated by colons (:)

 

5. INTODUCTION

Introduction First letters capital are written 1.5 spaces apart and bolded. The introduction should contain the background of the problem, hypothesis (if any), objectives, and research methods; generally, the article is not too extensive, about two pages 1.0 spaces; the introduction refers to several libraries that form the basis of the theory or reason for the research.

 

6. METHOD

In the research method section, including quotations or reading sources as references is not justified. You need to write it down in the introductory part, or you can also make it in the results and discussion if it has something to do with the opinions of other people or sources that can support the results of this research.

 

7. RESULTS AND DiSCUSSION

Result and Discussion  First letters capital, spaced 1.5 spacing, and bolded.

The presentation in the results and discussion are written systemically, and only the data/information results are related to the research objectives; simplify tables and use open tables,

and map images are more focused on the object under study and not too large and complicated file sizes (attempted in JPG format); tables and figures are numbered sequentially. Example of writing a table: Table 3.

The use of subtitles in the discussion is in accordance with the purposes of the discussion.

The reference citation source technique uses footnotes, using the chicago manual of Style 17th edition (full note) citation system of Arial Unicode MS 8 fonts; see the examples in the technical terms for writing footnotes.

 

8. CONCLUSION

Concoluding First letters capital, 1.5 spaces, and bold. The conclusion should be the research question’s answer, not expressed in a statistical sentence.

 

9. REFERENCES

References are written in the middle with First letters capital, spaced 1.5 spacing and bolded. The literature in the bibliography only contains sources referenced or cited in the article. Reference sources referred to in the article should refer to one or several scientific journal articles. Articles should refer to or quote one or more Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam Journal articles. The technique of writing a bibliography, using the citation system Chicago Manual of Style 17th edition (full note) font Arial Unicode MS 8. Writing a Reference List should use a management application references like Mendeley, Zotero, or others. More can be seen in the technical provisions of writing a reference list.

HISTORY OF JURNAL

Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam

 

Takamul el-Ulum Jurnal Studi Islam: Journal of Islamic Studies published by Postgraduate Islamic Studies Doctoral Program UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan. This journal started in 2025, published twice a year in June and December. So the management of this journal is now OJS. Authors can submit articles to this journal by reading the template articles first. This journal is on Islamic sciences such as Islamic Education, Islamic Law, Islamic Economics and Business, Qur'anic and Hadith Studies, Islamic Philosophy, Islamic Thought and Literature, Islam and Peace, Science & Civilization in Islam , Islam in local/nation an Islam and gender. In addition, this journal contains conceptual review articles and the latest research results using a multidisciplinary approach. This journal is published to disseminate scientific work in the form of conceptual studies and the results of the author's research so that it is expected to become a reference and source of reading for the scientific community.

 

Review Guidelines

All articles submitted to Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam undergo a screening and review process by the Editorial Board to ensure that they follow the scope of the journal and have sufficient academic quality and novelty to interest Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi IslamThe manuscripts will then be sent to the Peer-Reviewers for a Double-Blind Peer-Review Process in which both reviewers and authors' identities remain anonymous.

THE STEPS COVER: >> Initial screening >> Peer review (there may be the first and second round) >> First decision (there may be the second, third decision, etc.) >> Revision stage (there may be the first, second, third revision, etc.) >> final decision

  • Initial screening: Newly-submitted manuscripts will be filtered by the Editor-in-Chief/Editorial Board for compliance with the scope of the Studi Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam and basic stylistic and bibliographic requirements and for plagiarism using Turnitin software (the paper similarity index should be maximum 20%);
  • Peer review: If the manuscript passes the initial screening stage, it will be assigned to the Editor, who will then send it to at least two experts in the relevant field to undergo a double-blind peer review. Manuscripts that fail to pass the initial screening will be rejected without further review;
  • First decision: After receiving at least two review reports, decisions on peer-reviewed manuscripts will be made. In cases where the reports differ significantly, the Editor will invite additional reviews before deciding. At this stage, a manuscript can be rejected, requested to be revised (small or large), accepted as is, or (if significant changes to the language or content are recommended) recommended to be sent back for a second-round review process. If accepted, the manuscript will be returned to the author for formatting. The Editor in Chief will make the final decision to accept the manuscript based on recommendations from the Editor and following approval by the Editorial Team;
  • Revision stage: A manuscript that needs revision will be returned to the submitting author, who will have up to seven days to format and revise the manuscript, which the Editor will then review. The Editor will determine whether the changes are adequate and appropriate and whether the author has responded sufficiently. If not, then the cycle will be repeated with the manuscript returned to the submitting author for further revision;
  • Final decision: The revised manuscript will be accepted or rejected at this stage. This decision depends on whether the Editor believes the manuscript has been upgraded to a level suitable for publication. If the author has not made the necessary changes or has reached a level below the Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam standard, the manuscript will be rejected.

 

Plagiarism Policy

Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam published by Postgraduate Islamic Studies Doctoral Program UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan recognizes that plagiarism is not acceptable for all authors and therefore establishes the following policy stating specific actions (penalties) when plagiarism is identified by anti-plagiarism software detection using Turnitin software (https://www.turnitin.com) in an article that is submitted for publication.

“Plagiarism is copying another person’s text or ideas and passing the copied material as your own work. You must both delineate (i.e., separate and identify) the copied text from your text and give credit to (i.e., cite the source) the source of the copied text to avoid accusations of plagiarism. Plagiarism is considered fraud and has potentially harsh consequences including loss of a job, loss of reputation, and the assignation of reduced or failing grade in a course."

This definition of plagiarism applies to copied texts and ideas:

  1. Regardless of the source of the copied text or idea.
  2. Regardless of whether the author(s) of the text or idea which you have copied actually copied that text or idea from another source.
  3. Regardless of whether or not the authorship of the text or idea which you copy is known
  4. Regardless of the nature of your text (journal paper/article, web page, book chapter, paper submitted for a college course, etc) into which you copy the text or idea
  5. Regardless of whether or not the author of the source of the copied material gives permission for the material to be copied; and
  6. Regardless of whether you are or are not the author of the source of the copied text or idea (self-plagiarism).

When plagiarism is identified by the Plagiarism Checker (using Turnitin software),  the Editorial Board is responsible for the review of this paper and will agree on measures according to the extent of plagiarism detected in the article in agreement with the following guidelines:

1.  Minor Plagiarism: A small sentence or short paragraph of another manuscript is plagiarized without any significant data or ideas taken from the other papers or publications.

Punishment: A warning is given to the authors and a request to change the manuscript and properly cite the original sources.

 

2.  Intermediate Plagiarism: A significant data, paragraph, or sentence of an article is plagiarized without proper citation to the original source.

Punishment: The submitted article is automatically rejected.

3.  Severe Plagiarism: A large portion of an article is plagiarized that involves many aspects such as reproducing original results (data, formulation, equation, law, statement, etc.), ideas, and methods presented in other publications.
Punishment: The paper is automatically rejected and the authors are forbidden to submit further articles to the journal.

The similarity level tolerated for papers submitted to the journal of Takamul el-Ulum: Jurnal Studi Islam must have a similarity level of less than 15%.
