Peranan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi dalam Proses Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam di SMP Negeri 1 Angkola Sangkunur Kabupaten Tapanuli Selatan

Abstract


This descriptive qualitative study aims to explore the implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning and its influence on students' understanding at SMP Negeri 1 Angkola Sangkunur, South Tapanuli. The research investigates how the integration of ICT can enhance the effectiveness of PAI instruction. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Taxonomic analysis was employed to categorize various forms of ICT utilization, such as digital media, educational applications, and online learning resources. Data validity was ensured through prolonged researcher engagement, in-depth observation, triangulation (of sources and methods), and member checking. The findings indicate that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) plays a significant role in supporting the PAI learning process at SMP Negeri 1 Angkola Sangkunur. The use of ICT facilitates students’ access to various learning resources such as Moodle, Quizizz, Kahoot!, and digital Qur'an applications, while also supporting smooth communication between teachers and students through WhatsApp groups and Moodle forums. Interactive media such as videos, animations, and online quizzes have helped boost students’ enthusiasm and motivation in learning. Moreover, ICT encourages student creativity through digital projects such as creating presentations and educational videos. The implementation of ICT has contributed positively to enhancing learning effectiveness by providing more engaging, interactive, and comprehensible materials. Supporting factors include the availability of technological devices, sufficient internet access, and the teachers’ enthusiasm for innovation. However, several challenges remain, such as the limited number of devices, unstable internet connections, and low technological literacy among students, which need to be addressed continuously.
