JIFTECH
Journal of Islamic Financial Technology
Author Criteria
JIFTECH welcomes submissions from researchers, academics, lecturers, postgraduate researchers, and professionals whose scholarly work contributes to the study or practice of Islamic financial technology. Authors are expected to demonstrate relevant expertise, responsible research practice, and a clear connection between their manuscript and the journal’s focus and scope.
1. Eligible Authors
- Authors may be affiliated with universities, research institutions, financial institutions, technology companies, public agencies, or other relevant organisations.
- Independent researchers and practitioners may submit manuscripts when their work meets the journal’s scholarly and scope requirements.
- Submissions from early-career researchers and postgraduate students are welcome, provided the manuscript demonstrates academic quality and appropriate research practice.
- There is no requirement that an author hold a particular academic title or degree. Editorial decisions are based on manuscript suitability and quality rather than professional rank alone.
2. Relevant Academic and Professional Expertise
- Islamic finance and banking: Islamic banking, Sharia-compliant financial services, Islamic financial institutions, and financial innovation.
- Financial technology: digital finance, fintech platforms, digital payments, crowdfunding, blockchain, smart contracts, artificial intelligence, and financial data systems.
- Technology and digital transformation: digital adoption, information systems, cybersecurity, digital governance, and technology-enabled business processes relevant to finance.
- Islamic economics and financial inclusion: digital financial inclusion, consumer behaviour, financial literacy, access to finance, MSME development, and inclusive digital economies.
- Policy, governance, and Sharia compliance: regulation, risk management, ethics, consumer protection, and Sharia-related considerations in the use of financial technology.
3. Manuscript–Scope Alignment
- The submitted manuscript must make a clear and substantive contribution to Islamic financial technology or to a closely related topic within JIFTECH’s published focus and scope. Authors should be able to explain how the research question, analysis, or findings advance understanding of Islamic finance, financial technology, digital transformation, financial inclusion, or technology-related economic development.
- Manuscripts with only a superficial reference to Islamic finance or technology, without a meaningful connection to the journal’s scope, may be considered unsuitable.
4. Authorship and Contribution
- Every listed author must have made a substantial contribution to the research or manuscript, such as developing the research idea or design, collecting or analysing data, interpreting findings, or drafting and critically revising the work.
- All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to its submission to JIFTECH.
- The corresponding author is responsible for communicating with the editorial office and confirming that all co-authors have approved the submission.
- The author list must be accurate. Individuals who did not make a substantial scholarly contribution should not be listed as authors; other contributions may be acknowledged appropriately.
- Each author should provide their full name, institutional affiliation, country, and a valid email address. The corresponding author should be clearly identified.
5. Research Integrity and Ethical Responsibility
- Authors must submit original work that is not published elsewhere and is not simultaneously under review by another journal.
- Authors must acknowledge all sources accurately and must not engage in plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, or other forms of research misconduct.
- Relevant funding, conflicts of interest, and other relationships that could influence the research should be disclosed.
- Research involving human participants or personal data must comply with applicable ethical requirements, including consent and ethics approval where required.
- Authors are responsible for the accuracy of the reported findings and should respond appropriately to editorial queries, peer-review comments, and requests for correction.
6. Editorial Assessment of Author and Submission Suitability
- JIFTECH assesses submissions primarily on their relevance to the journal’s scope, originality, scholarly significance, methodological or analytical rigour, and compliance with publication ethics.
- An author’s position, institution, or academic seniority does not guarantee acceptance. Meeting these author criteria does not guarantee publication; all manuscripts remain subject to editorial screening and the journal’s peer-review process.
