DARUL ILMI: Jurnal Ilmu Kependidikan dan Keislaman is committed to maintaining academic integrity, editorial transparency, accountability, and ethical standards throughout the processes of manuscript submission, peer review, acceptance, and scholarly publication.
The journal recognizes that manuscript withdrawal may be necessary under certain circumstances. However, authors are expected to submit their manuscripts responsibly and avoid unnecessary withdrawal requests that may disrupt the editorial and peer-review processes.
This policy establishes the procedures, requirements, and responsibilities concerning manuscript withdrawal in accordance with the journal's publication ethics principles and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. General Policy on Manuscript Withdrawal
Authors are strongly discouraged from withdrawing their manuscripts after the editorial assessment or peer-review process has commenced without valid and justifiable reasons.
Withdrawal requests must be formally submitted in writing to the editorial team and must clearly explain the reasons for the requested withdrawal.
Withdrawing a manuscript without proper notification, submitting the same manuscript to another journal while it remains under editorial consideration, or intentionally misusing the editorial process may constitute a violation of publication ethics.
All withdrawal requests will be evaluated fairly, objectively, and on a case-by-case basis.
2. Manuscript Withdrawal Before Peer Review
Authors may request the withdrawal of their manuscripts before the peer-review process begins by submitting a formal written request to the editorial office.
The withdrawal request must include:
-
The title of the manuscript.
-
The manuscript submission identification number (Manuscript Submission ID).
-
The name and contact information of the corresponding author.
-
A clear explanation of the reasons for withdrawal.
-
Confirmation that all co-authors have been informed of and have agreed to the withdrawal, where applicable.
Withdrawal requests submitted before the peer-review process will generally be processed without sanctions, provided that no violations of publication ethics have occurred.
Authors must obtain official confirmation of manuscript withdrawal from the editorial office before submitting the manuscript to another journal.
3. Manuscript Withdrawal During Peer Review
Once a manuscript has entered the peer-review process, authors are expected to cooperate with the editorial team and peer reviewers until an editorial decision has been reached.
However, withdrawal requests may be considered when valid circumstances arise, including:
-
Discovery of significant methodological or analytical errors.
-
Identification of serious inaccuracies in research data or findings.
-
Unresolved authorship disputes.
-
Concerns regarding research ethics.
-
Significant changes in circumstances that make continuation of the publication process inappropriate.
-
Unreasonable editorial delays or other circumstances that justify manuscript withdrawal.
Authors must submit a formal written request explaining the circumstances underlying the withdrawal.
The editorial team will evaluate the request and communicate its decision to the corresponding author.
A manuscript withdrawal request does not automatically constitute a violation of publication ethics.
4. Manuscript Withdrawal After Acceptance
Authors are expected to fulfill their publication commitments after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.
Requests to withdraw an accepted manuscript must be submitted in writing and accompanied by clear, valid, and justifiable reasons.
The Editor-in-Chief will evaluate the request by considering the stage of publication preparation, the reasons provided, the interests of all co-authors, and any relevant ethical or contractual obligations.
If the withdrawal request is approved, the editorial team will provide formal written confirmation.
Authors are not permitted to submit the same manuscript to another journal while the withdrawal request remains unresolved.
5. Manuscript Withdrawal Without Valid Justification
Withdrawal requests made without reasonable justification or without following the journal's established procedures may be considered inappropriate editorial conduct.
Examples of such conduct include:
-
Simultaneously submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals.
-
Requesting manuscript withdrawal to conceal plagiarism or other forms of research misconduct.
-
Repeatedly submitting and withdrawing manuscripts to obtain peer-review feedback without a genuine intention to publish.
-
Providing false or misleading reasons for manuscript withdrawal.
-
Deliberately ignoring editorial communications in connection with unethical submission practices.
Where there are reasonable grounds to suspect misconduct, the editorial team may request clarification and supporting documentation from the authors.
Any corrective or disciplinary action will be based on the available evidence, the seriousness of the violation, and the principles of fairness and proportionality.
6. Editorial Actions and Sanctions
DARUL ILMI: Jurnal Ilmu Kependidikan dan Keislaman reserves the right to take appropriate editorial action when there is substantiated evidence of publication ethics violations associated with manuscript withdrawal.
Depending on the seriousness and circumstances of the case, the following actions may be taken:
-
Providing a formal explanation or reminder regarding publication ethics requirements.
-
Issuing a written warning to the corresponding author.
-
Requesting clarification or supporting documentation before processing future manuscript submissions.
-
Reporting serious or repeated ethical violations to the appropriate institutional authorities when justified by the available evidence.
-
Considering restrictions on future manuscript submissions in cases of substantiated serious misconduct, subject to fair editorial assessment and applicable journal policies.
The journal will not automatically blacklist authors or impose a fixed-term submission ban solely because they request manuscript withdrawal.
Authors must be given a reasonable opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding their actions before serious sanctions are considered.
7. Administrative Fees and Article Processing Charges
DARUL ILMI: Jurnal Ilmu Kependidikan dan Keislaman does not charge manuscript submission fees, Article Processing Charges (APCs), or publication fees.
However, according to the currently stated publication fee policy of IDR 300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Indonesian Rupiah), manuscript withdrawal results in the forfeiture of the APC payment already made.
The journal will not impose undisclosed financial penalties on authors who request manuscript withdrawal.
Any future changes to publication fees or financial policies relating to manuscript withdrawal must be formally established and transparently communicated before implementation.
8. Article Withdrawal After Publication
Once an article has been formally published, it generally cannot be withdrawn through the pre-publication manuscript withdrawal procedure.
Concerns identified after publication, including serious scientific errors, plagiarism, data fabrication, or other ethical violations, will be addressed in accordance with the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy.
Depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue, appropriate post-publication actions may include:
-
Publication of a correction or erratum.
-
Issuance of an expression of concern.
-
Retraction of the published article.
-
Removal of the article under exceptional circumstances involving legal, privacy, or safety concerns.
Published articles will generally remain part of the scholarly record, accompanied by appropriate notices explaining any corrections or retractions.
9. Author Responsibilities and Agreement
By submitting a manuscript to DARUL ILMI: Jurnal Ilmu Kependidikan dan Keislaman, authors acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with the journal's submission requirements, publication ethics policies, peer-review procedures, and manuscript withdrawal regulations.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

-
All co-authors have approved the manuscript submission.
-
Any manuscript withdrawal request is submitted honestly through official editorial communication channels.
-
The editorial team receives sufficient information to evaluate the withdrawal request.
-
The manuscript is not submitted to another journal until the journal has confirmed its withdrawal or formally terminated the editorial consideration process.
