Focus and Scope

The journal promotes research and scholarly discussion concerning Islamic Education in Academic disciplines and Institutions, focusing on the advancement of scholarship both formal and non-formal education.  Topics might be about Islamic educational studies in madrasah (Islamic schools), pesantren (Islamic boarding school), and Islamic education in society.

Peer Review Process

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper. 

Manuscript articles that submit by online to Fahmina: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam will be checked by the board of editor regarding scope, in house style, plagiarism. The manuscript that qualifies the focus and scope of Jurnal Pendidikan Islam will be continued to the review process which, at least, will be reviewed by reviewers with double blind commitment. The reviewer is a journal partner from the experts who concern about the field of journal. The editor will send an e-mail to the chosen reviewer about the title and contien of manuscript, and also the invitation to log in to journal website to finish the review process. The reviewer logs in to journal website to approve doing the review, to download the manuscript, to send their comment, and to choose the recommendation. The reviewing process by reviewer is done at least in two weeks. The result will be returned to the author to be followed up. The qualified paper will be published in English. 

Promptness

Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

 

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

 

Archiving

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Ethical Guideline for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in a peer-reviewed Fahmina: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam is an essential building block in the development of a coherent and respected network of knowledge. It is a direct reflection of the quality of the work of the authors and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is therefore essential to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editor, the peer-reviewer, the publisher and the society.

We are committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint or additional commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions. Besides, Pascasarjana Program Magister UIN Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, and the Editorial Board will assist in communications with other journals and publishers where this is useful and necessary.

Publication decisions

The editor of the Fahmina: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play

An editor at any time evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest 

Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not use in an editor's research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards

Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behaviour and are unacceptable.

Data Access and Retention

Authors are asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review, and should be prepared to provide public access to such data, if practicable, and should in any event be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality and Plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original actions and if the authors have used the works, or words of others that this has appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication

An author should not, in general, publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same paper concurrently to more than one journal constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources

Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be provided. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the article and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects

  1. If the work involves chemicals, procedures or equipment that have any unusual hazards inherent in their use, the author must clearly identify these in the manuscript.
  2. The confidential and anonymous treatment of human participants’ data is considered the norm for the conduct of research. Authors should recognise the entitlement of both institutions and individual participants to privacy, and should accord them their rights to confidentiality and anonymity. This could involve employing ‘fictionalising’ approaches when reporting, and where using such approaches researchers should fully explain how and why they have done so. However, in some circumstances individual participants, or their guardians or responsible others, may want to specifically and willingly waive their right to confidentiality and anonymity: researchers should recognise participants’ rights to be identified in any publication of their original works or other inputs if they so wish. This statement baseb on the ethical guidance of the privacy and data storage from BERA Ethical Guidelines for Educational Research (4th ed.)

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper

 

Reviewer Guideline

THE STEPS COVER: >> Initial screening >> Peer review (there may be the first and second round) >> First decision (there may be the second, third decision, etc.) >> Revision stage (there may be the first, second, third revision, etc.) >> final decision

  • Initial screening: Newly-submitted manuscripts will be filtered by the Editor-in-Chief/Editorial Board for compliance with the scope of the ahmina: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam and basic stylistic and bibliographic requirements and for plagiarism using Turnitin software (the paper similarity index should be maximum 20%);
  • Peer review: If the manuscript passes the initial screening stage, it will be assigned to the Editor, who will then send it to at least two experts in the relevant field to undergo a double-blind peer review. Manuscripts that fail to pass the initial screening will be rejected without further review;
  • First decision: After receiving at least two review reports, decisions on peer-reviewed manuscripts will be made. In cases where the reports differ significantly, the Editor will invite additional reviews before deciding. At this stage, a manuscript can be rejected, requested to be revised (small or large), accepted as is, or (if significant changes to the language or content are recommended) recommended to be sent back for a second-round review process. If accepted, the manuscript will be returned to the author for formatting. The Editor in Chief will make the final decision to accept the manuscript based on recommendations from the Editor and following approval by the Editorial Team;
  • Revision stage: A manuscript that needs revision will be returned to the submitting author, who will have up to seven days to format and revise the manuscript, which the Editor will then review. The Editor will determine whether the changes are adequate and appropriate and whether the author has responded sufficiently. If not, then the cycle will be repeated with the manuscript returned to the submitting author for further revision;
  • Final decision: The revised manuscript will be accepted or rejected at this stage. This decision depends on whether the Editor believes the manuscript has been upgraded to a level suitable for publication. If the author has not made the necessary changes or has reached a level below the Fahmina: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam standard, the manuscript will be

Research is a product of investment by society and therefore the proceeds must be returned to everyone without boundaries or discrimination, serving society universally and transparently. That is why Fahmina: Jurnal Pendidikan Islam provides free and open online access to all of its research publications and is free of publication fees. All articles that are declared accepted will be immediately available and free to download on the  https://jurnal.uinsyahada.ac.id/index.php/Fahmina page without limits and without charge.
