AUTHORSHIP CRITERIA
Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi is committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, accountability, and academic integrity in the attribution of authorship. Authorship must reflect genuine and substantive intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript rather than academic rank, institutional position, seniority, financial support, or other non-substantive considerations.
This policy is informed by the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), particularly its Discussion Document on Authorship.
1. Eligibility for Authorship
Individuals may be listed as authors of manuscripts submitted to Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi only when they have made substantial intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
Each author must be able to explain their individual contributions and accept responsibility for the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the scholarly work.
Qualifying intellectual contributions may include:
-
Conceptualization: Developing research problems, objectives, theoretical frameworks, legal arguments, research questions, or original ideas relevant to economic law, Islamic economic law, business law, commercial law, financial regulation, and related legal disciplines.
-
Methodology: Making substantial contributions to the development or selection of research methods, including normative legal research, empirical legal research, comparative legal analysis, doctrinal approaches, socio-legal research, and relevant interdisciplinary methodologies.
-
Investigation and Data Analysis: Contributing substantially to the collection, examination, and analysis of legal documents, statutory regulations, judicial decisions, contracts, financial regulations, Islamic legal texts, empirical data, interviews, or other relevant sources.
-
Interpretation of Findings: Contributing to the interpretation of legal evidence, judicial reasoning, regulatory frameworks, Islamic jurisprudential perspectives, and the formulation of theoretical, normative, practical, or policy implications.
-
Writing and Critical Revision: Drafting the manuscript or critically revising its substantive intellectual content, including scholarly arguments, legal interpretations, theoretical explanations, and research conclusions.
These examples clarify the substantive nature of authorship contributions. Routine assistance or participation in a single activity does not automatically establish eligibility for authorship.
For further guidance, authors are encouraged to consult the COPE Discussion Document on Authorship.
2. Responsibilities of Authors
All individuals listed as authors must:
-
Make a genuine and substantial intellectual contribution to the research or manuscript.
-
Participate in drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content.
-
Review and approve the final version of the manuscript before submission or publication.
-
Accept responsibility for their respective contributions and cooperate in addressing questions concerning the accuracy, reliability, or integrity of the research.
-
Ensure that all individuals who meet the authorship criteria are appropriately acknowledged as authors and that no eligible contributor is improperly excluded.
-
Disclose relevant conflicts of interest and provide accurate information concerning funding sources, research methods, legal materials, data, and other required declarations.
-
Cooperate with the editorial team in providing clarification, supporting documentation, or additional information when authorship-related concerns arise.
Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi encourages transparent authorship declarations and promotes accountability for the integrity of submitted and published research.
3. Contributions That Do Not Qualify for Authorship
Certain contributions, although valuable, do not independently demonstrate the substantial intellectual involvement necessary to establish authorship eligibility.
Such contributions may include:
-
Providing research grants, financial assistance, or institutional funding without making a qualifying intellectual contribution.
-
Holding a senior academic, managerial, institutional, or supervisory position.
-
Providing routine administrative assistance or general research coordination.
-
Performing routine data entry, transcription, document collection, or technical assistance without substantive intellectual involvement.
-
Providing language editing, proofreading, translation, reference formatting, or manuscript layout services without contributing to the intellectual content.
-
Providing general academic supervision or mentorship without making a qualifying contribution to the manuscript.
-
Offering general comments or suggestions that do not substantially contribute to the development of the manuscript's scholarly arguments or conclusions.
Individuals whose contributions do not meet the authorship criteria may be acknowledged in the Acknowledgments section, provided that their permission has been obtained.
Acknowledgment must accurately describe the nature of the contributions and must not be used to imply authorship where the established criteria have not been met.
4. Authorship Order
The order of authors must be determined through mutual agreement among all authors and should reflect the nature and extent of their scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript.
Authorship order must not be determined solely by academic rank, institutional seniority, supervisory responsibilities, financial contributions, or personal relationships.
All authors are encouraged to discuss and agree upon authorship order before manuscript submission.
For collaborative research involving multiple institutions or academic disciplines, authors should establish clear authorship arrangements during the early stages of the research process and review these arrangements if individual contributions change.
The journal encourages transparent communication and mutual agreement to prevent authorship disputes and ensure that scholarly credit is allocated fairly.
5. Corresponding Author Responsibilities
The corresponding author serves as the primary point of communication between the authors and Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi throughout the manuscript submission, peer review, revision, and publication processes.
The corresponding author is responsible for:
-
Ensuring that all authors have reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript.
-
Confirming that all listed authors have agreed to the manuscript submission and the declared order of authorship.
-
Providing accurate author names, institutional affiliations, email addresses, and author contribution statements.
-
Communicating editorial decisions, reviewer comments, revision requests, and publication-related information to all co-authors.
-
Submitting authorship declarations or supporting documentation when requested by the editorial office.
-
Informing the editorial team of any proposed changes to authorship.
-
Facilitating communication among co-authors when questions concerning contributions, research integrity, or authorship responsibilities arise.
The corresponding author must not add, remove, or rearrange authors without complying with the journal's established procedures and obtaining the necessary agreement from all authors concerned.
6. Author Contributions Statement
All manuscripts submitted to Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi must include an Author Contributions Statement accurately describing the specific contributions of each author.
Authors may use the Contributor Roles Taxonomy (CRediT), where applicable, to identify individual contributions, including:
-

-
Methodology: Development or selection of research methods and analytical approaches.
-
Formal Analysis: Application of legal analysis, doctrinal interpretation, regulatory analysis, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, or other analytical techniques.

Contributions from individuals who do not qualify for authorship may be described separately in the Acknowledgments section, where appropriate.
7. Changes in Authorship
Any request to add, remove, or rearrange authors after manuscript submission must be submitted in writing to the editorial office of Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi.

Additional supporting documentation if requested by the editorial team.
The editorial team may suspend manuscript processing while the proposed change is being evaluated.
Authorship changes will be considered only when the reasons are satisfactory, the necessary agreements have been obtained, and the proposed modifications comply with the journal's publication ethics policies.
Requests for authorship changes after publication will be evaluated in accordance with the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy and applicable publication ethics procedures.
8. Guest, Gift, and Ghost Authorship
Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi does not accept guest authorship, gift authorship, ghost authorship, or other forms of inappropriate authorship attribution.
The following practices are prohibited:
-
Guest Authorship: Including an individual as an author primarily because of their academic reputation, institutional authority, professional position, or perceived influence, despite the absence of a qualifying intellectual contribution.
-
Gift Authorship: Granting authorship to an individual who has not made a qualifying contribution, often as a personal favor, professional courtesy, or reciprocal arrangement.
-
Ghost Authorship: Omitting an individual whose substantive intellectual contributions warrant authorship.
-
Inappropriate Authorship Attribution: Misrepresenting individual contributions, excluding eligible contributors, or including individuals without their knowledge or consent.
All authorship information must accurately represent the contributions made to the research and manuscript.
Academic rank, financial support, institutional leadership, administrative authority, or supervisory position must not substitute for genuine intellectual contributions.
9. Authorship Disputes and Ethical Concerns
Authorship disputes should, whenever possible, be resolved through constructive communication among the individuals involved and their respective institutions.
When concerns regarding authorship attribution arise, Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi may request written explanations, author contribution statements, correspondence, research documentation, or other relevant evidence.
The editorial team will assess authorship concerns fairly, objectively, and confidentially.
Where necessary, the journal may temporarily suspend editorial processing while the matter is being evaluated.
If a dispute cannot be satisfactorily resolved, the journal may refer the matter to the relevant research institution or follow other appropriate publication ethics procedures.
The journal does not assume responsibility for determining institutional employment matters or disciplinary issues beyond its editorial authority.
Suspected authorship misconduct will be addressed in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant COPE guidance.

The journal reserves the right to request additional information or supporting documentation when necessary to verify authorship declarations and uphold the integrity of scholarly publication.
This policy is consistent with the principles outlined in the COPE Discussion Document on Authorship, which emphasizes transparency, appropriate attribution, contributor accountability, and the prevention of unethical authorship practices.
