PLAGIARISM POLICY
Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi is committed to maintaining academic integrity, originality, transparency, and ethical standards in scholarly publishing. The journal adopts a zero-tolerance policy toward plagiarism, academic dishonesty, and the misrepresentation of intellectual contributions in all manuscripts submitted for publication.
Plagiarism constitutes a serious violation of publication ethics. When plagiarism is identified in a manuscript submitted to Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi, appropriate editorial actions and sanctions will be implemented according to the nature, extent, and severity of the violation.
Plagiarism refers to the use, reproduction, appropriation, or close imitation of another person's words, ideas, arguments, research findings, data, or intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment, thereby presenting such material as one's own original work.
All manuscripts submitted to the journal must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts comply with established standards of scholarly citation, attribution, and research integrity.
Any material reproduced verbatim from another source must be clearly distinguished from the author's original writing through:
-
Appropriate quotation marks for direct quotations.
-
Proper indentation or block quotation formatting when necessary.
-
Accurate citation and acknowledgment of the original source.
Authors must also provide appropriate citations when paraphrasing or summarizing the ideas, interpretations, findings, or arguments of other scholars.
Reproduction of copyrighted text, tables, figures, illustrations, legal commentaries, or other protected materials beyond applicable legal exceptions requires permission from the copyright holder where necessary, together with proper attribution.
The journal also considers the following practices potential violations of publication ethics:
-
Direct Plagiarism: Reproducing another author's work without proper citation or acknowledgment.
-
Mosaic Plagiarism: Combining phrases, sentences, or ideas from several sources without adequate attribution.
-
Paraphrasing Plagiarism: Rewriting another author's ideas or arguments without identifying the original source.
-
Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of previously published work without appropriate acknowledgment or disclosure.
-
Source Misrepresentation: Providing inaccurate, fabricated, or misleading references to conceal the origin of intellectual material.
-
Duplicate Publication: Publishing or submitting substantially the same scholarly work in more than one publication without appropriate disclosure and editorial authorization.
1. Plagiarism Screening and Similarity Checking
All manuscripts submitted to Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi will undergo similarity screening using Turnitin before proceeding to further editorial evaluation.
The similarity screening process aims to identify potential textual overlap, improper citation, inadequate paraphrasing, duplicate publication, and other possible indications of plagiarism.
The journal applies the following similarity index thresholds as part of its preliminary editorial assessment:
A. Similarity Index Above 40%
Editorial Decision: Manuscript Rejected
Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 40% will be rejected because of substantial textual overlap, inappropriate citation practices, or inadequate paraphrasing.
Such manuscripts will not be accepted for resubmission in the same submission process.
B. Similarity Index Between 25% and 40%
Editorial Decision: Revision Required
Manuscripts with a similarity index ranging from 25% to 40% will be returned to the authors for substantial revision.
Authors must:
-
Identify and correct all instances of inappropriate textual similarity.
-
Provide accurate citations for borrowed ideas, arguments, and research findings.
-
Improve paraphrasing while preserving the original meaning of cited sources.
-
Revise excessively similar passages to demonstrate original scholarly interpretation and analysis.
-
Resubmit the revised manuscript with a new Turnitin similarity report.
The revised manuscript must achieve a similarity index below 25% before it can proceed to further editorial consideration.
C. Similarity Index Below 25%
Editorial Decision: Eligible for Further Editorial Evaluation
Manuscripts with a similarity index below 25% may proceed to the next stage of editorial assessment, provided that all sources are appropriately acknowledged and no substantive plagiarism is identified.
A similarity index below 25% does not automatically guarantee manuscript acceptance. The manuscript must still satisfy the journal's standards of originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, relevance, and publication ethics.
Editors may request citation improvements, corrections, or additional revisions when inappropriate textual overlap is identified, even if the overall similarity index is below the established threshold.
2. Author Responsibilities Regarding Plagiarism
Authors submitting manuscripts to Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi are responsible for ensuring that:
-
The manuscript represents original scholarly work.
-
All borrowed ideas, quotations, legal interpretations, theories, and research findings are appropriately cited.
-
All references are accurate, traceable, and relevant to the claims presented.
-
Previously published materials are disclosed and acknowledged appropriately.
-
Copyrighted materials are reproduced only with the necessary permissions or under applicable legal exceptions.
-
The manuscript does not contain fabricated citations, misleading attribution, or deliberate misrepresentation of sources.
-
Any identified plagiarism or citation-related problems are corrected before resubmission.
Authors whose manuscripts require revision must carefully address the editorial findings and provide a revised manuscript accompanied by a Turnitin report demonstrating a similarity index below 25%.
Similarity reports will be evaluated in conjunction with editorial judgment. A similarity percentage alone does not establish whether plagiarism has occurred, since properly quoted materials, references, legal provisions, and commonly used terminology may contribute to textual similarity.
3. Editorial Actions and Ethical Sanctions
When suspected plagiarism is identified, the Managing Editor or designated editor will examine the similarity report and relevant manuscript content to determine the appropriate editorial response.
Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, the journal may:
-
Request clarification or supporting documentation from the author.
-
Require correction of citations, quotations, or paraphrased materials.
-
Return the manuscript for substantive revision.
-
Reject the manuscript when serious plagiarism or unethical publication practices are confirmed.
-
Refer serious or unresolved allegations to the relevant institution when appropriate.
-
Apply post-publication correction or retraction procedures when plagiarism is discovered after publication.
Editorial decisions concerning suspected plagiarism will be made fairly, objectively, and in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

-
The authenticity of references, citations, legal documents, and supporting evidence.

4. Disclosure of Generative AI Use

If no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used, no declaration is required.
5. Restrictions on AI Use by Reviewers and Editors
To safeguard manuscript confidentiality, intellectual property rights, unpublished research findings, and the integrity of the peer review process, Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi prohibits reviewers and editors from uploading submitted manuscripts or confidential editorial materials into generative AI systems or AI-assisted platforms such as ChatGPT during manuscript evaluation.

The journal may reconsider or update this restriction when secure, ethically compliant, and institutionally approved AI technologies become available.
6. Policy Compliance and Ethical Enforcement
Failure to comply with this Generative AI Policy may result in appropriate editorial action.
Such actions may include:
-
Requests for clarification concerning AI-assisted manuscript preparation.
-
Requests for additional documentation or corrections.
-
Requirements to revise or remove inaccurate AI-generated content.
-
Rejection of manuscripts containing fabricated references, misleading information, or undisclosed unethical AI use.
-
Further investigation under the journal's publication ethics procedures when serious misconduct is suspected.
All allegations involving inappropriate AI use will be assessed fairly and proportionately based on available evidence.
Yurisprudentia: Jurnal Hukum Ekonomi remains committed to ensuring that technological innovation supports, rather than undermines, academic integrity, transparency, originality, and responsible scholarly publishing.
