Thariqah Ilmiah: Jurnal Ilmu-ilmu Kependidikan & Bahasa Arab is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published twice a year by the Department of Arabic Language Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Universitas Islam Negeri Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, Indonesia. This statement binds the behavior of authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, and is based on Elsevier recommendations and COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.

Ethical Guidelines for Journal Publication

The publication of an article in Thariqah Ilmiah is a significant contribution to educational sciences and Arabic language studies. It supports and embodies the scientific method. Universitas Islam Negeri Syekh Ali Hasan Ahmad Addary Padangsidimpuan, as the publisher, takes its duties of guardianship over all stages of publishing extremely seriously and recognizes its ethical and academic responsibilities. The journal is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint, or other commercial revenue has no impact or influence on editorial decisions.

Plagiarism Screening

All manuscripts submitted to Thariqah Ilmiah are subject to initial plagiarism screening via Turnitin before being considered for peer review. Editors evaluate similarity reports carefully, considering legitimate overlaps such as properly cited quotations and standard research terminology. Submissions containing substantial unoriginal text or academic misconduct will be rejected immediately.

Duties of Authors

Reporting Standards & Data Access

Authors must present an accurate account of original research and an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data must be represented accurately. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable. Authors may be asked to provide raw data for editorial review or public access and should be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

Originality, Plagiarism, and Acknowledgment

Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. All sources, ideas, or works by other researchers must be properly acknowledged and cited. Privately obtained information (conversations, correspondence, or discussions) or confidential services (peer-reviewing or grant applications) must not be reported without explicit, written permission from the source.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors must not publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication concurrently. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is considered unethical and unacceptable.

Authorship, Subjects, and Conflicts of Interest

Authorship must be limited strictly to those who have made a significant contribution to the study. All significant contributors should be listed as co-authors, while others should be acknowledged properly. The corresponding author must ensure all co-authors have approved the final version and agreed to submission.

If the work involves human or animal subjects, the manuscript must contain a statement confirming that all procedures complied with relevant laws and institutional guidelines, including ethics committee approval and informed consent for human subjects. Privacy rights must always be observed.

All authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflicts of interest (e.g., employment, consultancies, stock ownership, honoraria, funding) that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript at the earliest stage possible.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is their obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate to retract or correct the paper. If a third party reports an error, the author must promptly correct the paper or provide evidence of its correctness to the editor.

Duties of Editors

Publication Decisions & Fair Play

The editor is responsible for deciding which submitted articles should be published, driven entirely by the work's validation and scientific merit. Editors evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy. Legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism are strictly observed.

Confidentiality & Conflicts of Interest

Editors and editorial staff must protect the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts, sharing information only with the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher as appropriate. Unpublished materials must not be used in an editor's own research without express written consent. Editors must recuse themselves from considering manuscripts in which they have competitive, collaborative, or other conflicts of interest.

Involvement and Cooperation in Investigations

An editor, in conjunction with the publisher, must take reasonably responsive measures when ethical complaints are presented concerning a submitted manuscript or published paper. Every reported act of unethical publishing behavior must be investigated, leading to the publication of a correction, retraction, or expression of concern as appropriate.

Duties of Reviewers

Reviewers assist the editorial board in making decisions and help authors improve their papers through objective, constructive, and scholarly feedback. Reviewers must accept assignments only within their expertise and complete them on time. They must maintain strict confidentiality, disclose any conflicts of interest, and alert the editor to any substantial text overlaps or potential ethical violations.

Post-Publication Discussions and Debate

In alignment with COPE Core Practices, Thariqah Ilmiah provides structured channels for post-publication academic dialogue:

• Academic Critiques: Readers may submit formal, evidence-based commentaries or letters to the editor regarding published articles. Approved critiques will be published and digitally linked to the original article.
• Right to Reply: To ensure academic fairness, original authors hold a strict Right to Reply. If an author provides a scientifically sound rebuttal to an approved critique, it will be published simultaneously alongside the reader's commentary.
• Corrections & Amendments: If post-publication discussions reveal significant honest errors or research misconduct, the Editorial Board will investigate and issue necessary amendments (Erratum, Expression of Concern, or Retraction) in accordance with COPE guidelines.
